    Description

    Old beautiful Bedouin bead from Yemen with barley symbols - known as a "dugag" bead. I think there are two informative markings on this - but they are nearly worn off. One may be the old hallmark/maker plate (first up-close photo) the other marking looks more like a stamping and may indicate the region the bead was made (second up-close photo). I am not an expert on Yemeni jewelry, however. This bead has a lot of surface wear due to age. I am not sure of the exact silver content, it may be fuḍah (60%) or niṣfī (50%) - the exact silver content is unknown. The bead is about 20mm long with a 3mm opening.
